1.2/9/25 – My house’s backyard (1:30 PM)

2. Close Sounds: metal rod squeaking on rocking chair, foot hitting against solid snow, and melted snow trickling down drain.

3. Medium Sounds: wind chimes, metal panel slamming against the house, and squirrels clawing cold bark.

4. Far Sounds: cars driving on ice, gun shots, birds chirping, wind rustling leaves, and car honking.

5. The sound level is quiet for the most part. The loudest is the wind brushing against the trees or the cars on the streets.

6. Tranquility.

7. Important Sounds: Water dripping, chair rocking, wind rustling

Time: 6:51 pm

Location: Inside Constitution Dorm

Sounds Closest: Spanish song from my friends phone, friend typing on her computer. 

Sound in Medium Distance: People talking in the hallway, wind blowing. 

Sound farthest: The airplanes outside are overpowering the rest of the farthest sounds.  

One word: comforting 

Sound Level: medium, the music is the loudest thing i can hear but it is at a lower volume. The people in the hallway occasionally get loud, but only for a moment. The wind and planes outside are the same volume. 

Three important sounds: airplanes outside, Spanish song playing.

1. 2/07/25 – 3:14 PM – My Bedroom 

2. Far Sounds: I hear a plane flying above my house, strong wind from cars driving on the street, and a train passing by.

3. Medium Sounds: I hear my dog’s paws tapping on the hardwood floor above me, my brother talking with my mom, and my parakeets chirping in the living room.

4. Close Sounds: I hear the humming of the gas boiler, water traveling through pipes, and the clacking of keys as I type on my laptop’s keyboard.

5. The general sound level is moderate. There is constant sound activity.

6. The sound environment is peaceful.

7. Three sounds essential to the sound environment are humming from the gas boiler, my dog’s paws tapping along the floor above me, and the clacking of keys as I type on my laptop’s keyboard.

  1. February 6th, 2025 – Living room in my house
  2. Sounds farthest away: Light rain outside the window, cars driving by outside and water running in the upstairs shower
  3. Sounds medium range: My roommates teacher talking on Zoom through their computer speaker, radiator humming/whistling and music playing through my roommates phone speaker
  4. Sounds closet: My keyboard clicking as I type, my roommate talking to me/fidgeting their body and my own breathing 
  5. The general sound level is quite high with many different types of sounds. Since I live with 6 other people there are sounds coming from all around the house that correlate to different activities. I am also sitting with someone so their noise level is much higher in comparison to the rest.
  6. One word description of the “sound environment”: lively 
  7. Music playing in another room through a phone speaker, radiator humming and miscellaneous talking

  3. Sounds at a medium distance: My roommates talking in our living room, pots and pans clacking
  4. Sounds nearest to me: My AC running, music playing from my laptop
  5. The general sound level is moderate; loud when my music picks up
  6. One word to describe sound environment – Calming
  7. Three important sounds: Music, AC running, roommates talking

Location: my kitchen

In this field recording, you can hear my roommates talking and my cat purring. It is a very typical night at home, and all of us are talking about the recent club elections my roommate just had.

In this recording, you can hear my girlfriend and I bullying the cat as my roommate types on their computer. The air conditioner is going, and you can occasionally hear me hiccuping.
