Sounds: Winding blowing, music playing on the distance radio, me sniffing, my friend coughing, typing on my computer, people talking 50 feet away from our location.

April 23rd, 2025 – 11:07 AM – Outside at Bits & Bytes

Far Sounds: Landscapers mowing the lawns, daycare workers forcing the children to take photos in front of the tulips, doors opening/closing, people talking far away

Medium Sounds: people chattering, moving objects on the picnic table, footsteps, people playing with the bat mitten net, radio playing from the hidden speakers

Closest Sounds: My friend and I typing on the computer, Siri telling me who texted me on my AirPods, my friend sniffing cause she has allergies

General Sound Level: A general medium tone level, calming yet inviting

One word describing the Sound Environment: Chill

Three Important Sounds: Daycare workers forcing the children to take photos in front of the tulips, radio playing from the hidden speakers, my friend sniffing cause she has allergies

Sounds: birds chirping, voices talking, typing on keyboard, wind blowing, laughing, people moving on the benches, and radio of people talking in the speaker from a distance

April 4th, 2025 – 8:20 PM – Black Box Green Room

Far Sounds: A run crew member typing on their computer, the actors saying their lines inside the black box (onstage and speaker)

Medium Sounds: The air conditioning, the actor soldiers coming out from the shop to go backstage, the backstage door opening and closing

Closest Sounds: Some run crew members quietly chatting near me, typing on my keyboard, listening to Jason Schmidt singing sweet tunes on my AirPods

General Sound Level: A very soft level, calming environment behind backstage

One word describing the Sound Environment: comforting

Three Important Sounds: Onstage lines from speaker, run crew members whispering conversation, Jason Schmidt singing “Close By” playing on my Airpods

Location: Downstairs living room at Broadfield

Sounds: Laughing, chatting, chicken broiling, soft calming music on evy’s playlist, clicking on the game controller, fork scraping pasta bowl

Far Sounds: Scanning beep, receipts printing, frozen yogurt machines, the hum of the open refrigerators

Medium Sounds: People chattering and laughing, footsteps, chairs screeching

Closest Sounds: A group on my right having a conversation, typing on my keyboard, listening to John Mulaney cracking jokes on my AirPods

General Sound Level: A soft medium level, not too loud for a big area of social setting

One word describing the Sound Environment: engaging

Three Important Sounds: Loud Chattering, moving chairs, John Mulaney’s “New Kid On The Block” playing on airpods

Sounds: People chatting and laughing, someone speaking on the radio, footsteps on tile to carpet, coughing, and someone dragging their bag on the carpet floor.

Far Sounds: Coffee machines, receipts printing, footsteps

Medium Sounds: Overhead announcements, people chattering and laughing, footsteps

Closest Sounds: The person next to me typing loudly on his phone, typing on my keyboard, music playing  softly in my AirPods

General Sound Level: A soft medium level, not too loud for a big area of social setting

One word describing the Sound Environment: Mediocre

Three Important Sounds: Minimal Chattering, overhead announcements, rolling suitcases

2nd Journal Entry

Feb 21st, 2025 – 4:05 pm – Ceramics Art Room

Far Sounds: The wind moves the branches softly, hitting the windows from outside.

Medium Sounds: Two girls in the glaze room chatting softly, painting their art pieces, a woman needing the clay on a table behind me

Closest Sounds: My phone is quietly playing “How To Train Your Dragon” on my left side, and the small turn table squeaks as I move my clay sculpture, carving into it.

General Sound Level: Low volume and light footwork
