Far sounds: Construction workers on the side of the road,

Medium sounds: Car next to me on the road honking, the change of road conditions on the tires, the engine sound increasing.

Close sounds: My music playing, my blinker sound

April 11, 2025 – 10:40 PM – LIRR

Far Sounds – Conductor punching the tickets in the next car over, bathroom door slamming shut

Medium Sounds – The wheels of the train squeaking, the announcment of the next train stop over the PA system

Close Sounds – My dad talking to his friends across the aisle, another train flying past on the opposite track, The girl across from me opening a snack wrapper

Sound Level – Medium

Three Important Sounds – Train track squeak, ticket punching, announcment over the loudspeaker

February 20, 2025 – 9:50pm – Living Room

  1. Far Range Sound – TV playing downstairs
  2. Medium Range Sound – Upstairs bathroom fan on, my dog’s collar jingling  and paws tapping along the floor.
  3. Close Range Sound – Living room TV, hockey game playing, my dad talking about the game.
  4. The general sound level of my surroundings is loud
  5. Energized
  6. Hockey game announcers, My dad cheering, dog walking around the room

  1. February 5, 2025 – 6:25 p.m. – Indoor Cycling Studio lobby
  2. Sounds farthest away: Car honking in the parking lot,
  3. Sounds at a medium range: Music coming from the cycling room, people speaking at the front desk, front door opening.
  4. Sounds closest to me: Lobby music playing, cycle shoes clicking on the tiled floor, jacket unzipping, people speaking by the lockers
  5. The general sound level is a little more than a normal volume, there is a lot of activity coming from a lot of people around me.
