Sounds heard: general “happy human” sounds, i.e. a euphony of lovebirds chatting in the small room, with the exception of the couple at the table next to ours, who can be heard bickering (“I’m not shallows, don’t call me shallow.”) Stephen and I tease each other with phony, hackneyed expressions of love (“Your eyes are like limpid pools of…”) At one point, Stephen begins explaining to me the concept of moshing at a concert, and two waiters can be heard nearby speaking a foreign language to one another.

Guitar soloing, drums, pianist, pianist singing, cheering, clapping, and screaming of the crowd, crowd singing along
Walking from Subway to my building
Swipe cards, doors sliding open, trunstile unlocking, voices
I thought it would be interesting to listen to the sound environment on a simple walk from subway back to my room.
It was January 31st and very windy. This is how loud and whistle-y the wind was outside my dorm window.
So the sound is wind

This was on 1/31 around 3:30pm on the train from Mineola to NY.
Identify the sounds: Two girls having a conversation about hair. There is a man talking on the phone. There is another man speaking aloud to his phone (he was deaf).
Location: Back of Student Center, during a “Coffee House” style performance series — February 7, 2012, 8:29 pm
Sounds Heard: Aaron playing the acoustic guitar and singing (both amplified), the chatter of students in the dining hall, applause, whooping, and his friend Arianna screaming “Okay, Aaron, I see you!” (to which he replies, “I also see you”), and laughter.
